Spotted: The accessory that finally gives you control over the one thing that matters most – time.
The Regulators are OREA's newest power move for the O1 and O2 brewers. Built on the same design as the V4 FAST base, they ensure even contact points across the bed and plenty of space for air and water to flow – no choking, no stalling, no drama. Where the V4 FAST focused on flow patterns, the Regulators focus on flow regulation. Each one has a set maximum output flow rate, giving you predictable control over contact time. Because precision, darling, is everything.
Three regulators, three speeds, three moods:
#2 Regulator (Dark Grey) – The slowest. For when you want to linger.
#4 Regulator (Black) – The middle child. Reliable. Steady.
#8 Regulator (Orange) – The fastest. Compatible with the Hario Switch base. For when you're in a hurry but refuse to compromise.
At the same grind size, you add 15–30 seconds of contact time as you move from fastest to slowest. Predictable. Controllable. Beautiful. The maximum flow rate enforces a minimum contact time, letting you grind coarser while still hitting your target brew time. Highly soluble, hyper-processed coffees? Benefit from a slower regulator to avoid overly funky flavours. Ultra-light roasts? Gain from the added contact time to avoid thin, grassy brews. More developed roasts? Go coarser without sacrificing contact time.
The #8 Regulator was paired with immersion brewing specifically for its fast drawdown – a clean, quick release of water after a period of steeping. Perfect for hybrid brewing with the Switch.
